As part of its carbon offsetting, Phoenix supports concrete projects for the environment and rural communities
From its inception, Phoenix has been committed to a comprehensive environmental approach aimed at limiting the ecological footprint of its activity. This approach has been formalized by a CSR Charter integrating the challenges of sustainable development both in the company’s strategy and daily management and in the conduct of projects carried out for our clients.
Despite our efforts to reduce our travel, our international business required 27 air trips in 2025, generating greenhouse gas emissions estimated at 44 tonnes of CO2 eq.
As we do every year, we offset these emissions by supporting rural development, agroforestry, reforestation, and conservation projects. This year, we have selected two projects that resonate with Phoenix’s two main areas of activity: water and energy.
- Deployment of efficient and clean cookstoves for households in the Democratic Republic of Congo: With over 95% of the DRC’s population relying on biomass for cooking, and local charcoal production being inefficient, clean cookstoves are essential to slowing deforestation in the Congo Basin. Implemented by ECOA Climate Capital, this project aims to deploy improved cookstoves: the JIKOKOA, a fuel-efficient biomass stove, reduces household charcoal consumption by 61%, thus helping to slow deforestation and save families money. These stoves also reduce indoor air pollution by 65%, improving the health of women and girls in particular. 20,000 JIKOKOA stoves have been distributed since 2020, and Phoenix is proud to contribute to the development of this initiative. - Gender-Sensitive Access to Safe Drinking Water in Uganda: In Lango, access to safe drinking water is a major challenge; boreholes that tap into groundwater often fall into disuse due to a lack of funding and training for their maintenance. The Lango Safe Water project, which rehabilitates boreholes to provide safe drinking water in rural areas of Uganda, received the first-ever Gold Standard Gender Responsive certification in 2020. Implemented by CO2balance UK Ltd, it has provided 40,000 people with access to safe drinking water since its launch. The DRC and Uganda are among the 25 countries in which we intervened in 2025.
