Phoenix lends its expertise to the modernization of Senegal’s water sector
Phoenix, in collaboration with SGI Ingénierie, is supporting Société Nationale des Eaux du Sénégal (SONES) in various key aspects of asset management and operational control. This technical assistance is a continuation of the first TA carried out in 2020-2021.
SONES is the company responsible for managing assets and investments in the urban and peri-urban drinking water sector. It faces many challenges, including that of being the armed arm of the authorities in achieving the SDG6s. This objective is a demanding one, both in terms of demographic growth, which implies growing water needs, and in terms of the total amount of infrastructure still to be deployed, in an environment with limited financial resources.
We are responsible for assisting SONES in a number of areas, including improving the network renewal policy, supporting the technical and financial monitoring of the leasing contract signed with SEN’EAU, proposing new tariff options to enable the sector to regain financial equilibrium, and defining a service regulation policy.
This pearled technical assistance takes place over one year, and is punctuated by 4 times 1 month of presence in Dakar of our experts. The final session will see the organization of training sessions for SONES staff on technical, legal and financial subjects.
