Studies to update the urban water master plan for 46 centers
As in many countries on the African continent, urban water supply in Senegal is facing a series of complex challenges: substantial investment requirements, the need to diversify water resources, imperatives linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and a financial equilibrium hampered by tariffs that the authorities are struggling to raise.
A drinking water supply master plan (SDAEP) was drawn up in 2010 for the 68 centres in the concession area, covering the period up to 2025. In 2016, the master plan of the Urban Water and Sanitation Project (PEAMU) updated the planning for the Dakar – Thiès – Petite Côte strategic zone to 2035. The 46 centres located outside this zone had not yet benefited from an update of this tool.
The Agence Française de Développement has decided to finance this update for the other 46 urban centres in the area. The SGI Ingénierie / Antea Group / SGI Sénégal consortium has been appointed by SONES to provide these services.
Phoenix is responsible for carrying out demand studies for these 46 centres, including demographic projections based on the urban development of the localities, taking into account their economic expansion and defining consumption by type of user (domestic and professional) for the future.
The results will enable the technical teams to design the hydraulic structures.
