SUNREF Verification Consultant in Mauritius
SUNREF is the green credit line dedicated to companies and developed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) since 2007. Its vocation is to support companies’ investments through technical assistance and a long-term credit line made available to local financial institutions.
SUNREF loans are available to finance projects aimed at improving energy efficiency, developing environmental performance or the use of renewable energies.
In Mauritius, the program is operational since December 2018 and the first projects were evaluated in 2019. Euros 82 million in loans and grants were mobilized by AFD and the European Union for this program.
Phœnix works in partnership with AEC, mandated by AFD, as Consultant Auditor. The mission is to verify that the effective implementation of the funded projects is in line with the initial objectives and the objectives of SUNREF. The Certificate of Eligibility issued at the end of this verification will release the disbursement of the grants. About 80 projects will be evaluated over a period of 3 years.
Despite the constraints related to the restriction of travel following the COVID-19 pandemic, the mobilization of local teams made it possible to carry out the first verification during the month of August, including in particular a photovoltaic solar power plant, a green campus, a unit of industrial CO2 recycling, a real estate project for sustainable offices.
