What are the investment needs and financial equilibrium for the drinking water sector in Côte d’Ivoire?
On 19 January 2023, the Phoenix/Axelcium consortium travelled to Abidjan to present the results of the firm’s work on the financial equilibrium of the sector to representatives of the Ivorian parties involved in the drinking water sector (Ministry of Water and Sanitation, ONEP, Instance Générale des PPP, Primature).
This mission, conducted by the group between August and November 2022, reports on all the investment needs and operating costs of the drinking water sector by 2040 and proposes an analysis of the financial resources that could potentially be mobilised for the sector. This work provided the stakeholders with the elements necessary to take strategic options for the management of the service and the financial steering of the sector in the short and medium term, and in particular, with a view to preparing a new public service delegation for the production and/or distribution of drinking water in an urban environment.
The Phoenix/Axelcium consortium has been providing Technical Assistance to the Ministry of Water since June 2022, with a view to preparing a new delegation contract and setting up a new institutional scheme for the drinking water sector. This Technical Assistance is financed by the Project to Strengthen Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation in Urban Areas (PREMU) and is of major strategic importance for the sector.
